Are you wanting to cut some time out of your morning routine? Are you sick of rubbing off mascara from your lashes after a long day? Why not try out eyelash extensions! Please remember not all salons offer this service, to confirm please give your local salon a call.
What are eyelash extensions?
Eyelash extensions are semi-permanent lashes that are hand-glued to the base of your natural lashes. Lash extensions are easily customisable for your eye shape and preferences.
Before Your Appointment
Before your appointment it is important to follow the following:
Do not wear any makeup or products on your eyes to your appointment
This includes mascara, eyeshadow, eyeliner, etc.
Have a think about what style of lash extensions you would like
Prepare any questions you may have for your Beauty Therapist
There’s no better way to answer your queries, than asking the professional!
The Process
Chat to your Beauty Therapist about what style you are after, and what may work best for you. Once decided, you can proceed with the appointment!
Your Beauty Therapist will then clean around your eyes to prep your lashes for the extensions. Once the area is prepped, tape is applied to the under-eye to give a contrast against the top eyelashes. Each lash will then individuallybe dipped into a medical-grade adhesive and bonded to your natural eyelash.
Eyelash Extensions Aftercare
There are a few important rules to follow to make sure you get the very best out of your lash extensions, and to prolong the life of them!
Wait 48 hours before getting your lashes wet
This is to give your lash extensions enough time for the glue to cure.
Do not use any oil-based products around or on the eyes
Do not rub or touch your eyes
Do not sleep on your face
Regularly brush through your eyelashes with a soft bristle spoolie brush
This is a common misconception – but no they don’t! When applied by a professional, eyelash extensions will not affect the length, or health of your eyelashes.
What are different styles of eyelash extensions?
Depending on the salon you visit, there are different types of eyelash extensions. Generally speaking, the four main types of eyelash extensions include classic, hybrid, volume and mega volume.
How often will I need to get my extensions refilled?
If following an appropriate aftercare routine, eyelash extensions will shed and fall out as your lashes usually do. Depending on your natural shedding cycle of your lashes, your extensions could potentially last up to 6-8 weeks. For beautiful full looking lashes, we recommend coming in every 3-4 weeks to fill in any gaps.
