What is henna, and how is it different to an eyebrow tint?
Henna is a plant-based dye, derived from the plant Lawsonia inermis (more commonly known as the henna, mignonette, or Egyptian tree). The leaves from the henna tree contain a natural pigment used for temporary body art, hair colours, dying fabrics and more.
Henna has been used for thousands of years for hair dye, body art, and makeup. While many people associate henna with the colour red, henna brow products are specially formulated to achieve a cooler tone that’s ideal for eyebrows.
Henna brows are a natural way to tint the eyebrow hairs. It is used to stain the skin beneath the eyebrow hairs. The purpose of this is to cast a shadow or create an illusion of depth and fullness in the area, visually filling in any sparseness. Henna works by coating the hairs, creating the look of thicker hair.
Whereas traditional tint makes the hair darker by breaking down the hair and penetrating colour in the hair follicles. Henna is an excellent option for over-plucked or sparse brows, or for anyone wanting full and even brows, as it temporarily stains the skin underneath the brow.
How long do henna eyebrows last?
Henna brows can last anywhere from 1 to 4 weeks on the skin. The length of time henna tinting lasts differs from person to person and is dependent on how your skin reacts to the dye.
Prepare for henna brow services:
The prep for your henna brows appointment is easy! Before your eyebrow appointment, ensure you have no products in your eyebrows, or on the skin around the area. Do not exfoliate the skin around your eyebrows before your appointment either. You can book a henna brow tint with your service in the Lash & Tint Services section of our online booking system.
The henna brow process:
We offer two different types of henna brow services, we offer a Henna Tint for your eyebrows and a Henna Brow Tint and Shaping service. Depending on the service you have chosen, the process will be different. Our Henna Brow Tint service will simply follow the shape of your eyebrow and tint the hairs. Whereas if you have a Henna Tint and Eyebrow Shaping service, our Beauty Therapists will map your eyebrow in 4 zones to create a beautiful shape.

Aftercare tips and tricks:
- Do not over wash your face. Over washing your face, and using any harsh cleansers on your eyebrows may cause the henna underneath your brows to fade quickly.
- Use appropriate aftercare. You may opt to choose some aftercare specifically created for henna brows. Have a chat with your Beauty Therapist to see if they have anything specific to suggest.
- Avoid active ingredients on the henna tint, to avoid any risk of fading the henna. Active ingredients include AHA, BHA, Salicylic and more.
