For those who choose to wax away body hair, we cannot recommend underarm waxing enough! If you want to wax away your armpit hair, visit the experts at Essential Beauty. Waxing has so many amazing benefits, read on to learn more about our armpit waxing service!
Choose Your Wax Type
It’s your wax, your way! We offer two different types of wax, Sensitive Hot Wax, or strip wax. Our Sensitive Hot Wax formula is best for areas where skin is more fragile, and prone to pain. Our Sensitive Hot Wax is gentle, great for sensitive skin, or if you are prone to blemishes. Alternatively, we also have strip wax as a fast and effective method of removing hair.
Prepare For Your Appointment
Before your appointment it is important to follow a few guidelines to get the best out of your wax. Do not exfoliate, apply any products, or moisturise 24 hours before your appointment. Doing any of these things before your appointment may affect your results!
Hair Length
We highly recommend your hair to be around the length of a grain of rice, or about 1cm. If you regularly shave, we recommend waiting about 2 weeks to achieve the right length of hair. If your hair is too long, don’t worry! Your Beauty Therapist will trim anything if they need to.
Armpit Waxing Benefits
Waxing has so many great benefits! A few of our favourites include:
Slower regrowth: regular waxing weakens the hair follicle over time, and
Gentle exfoliation: waxing gently exfoliates dead skin cells from the top layer of your skin.
If you are using the following medications, please consult with a Beauty Therapist or your health practitioner first. If we haven’t listed your medication and are unsure, please let our team know.
Some antibiotics
Hormone replacements
Acne medication (Roacctuane, etc.)
Topical retinoids (Differin, etc.)
What’s the Waxing Process?
As your underarm can be a difficult area to reach when wearing sleeved shirts, we recommend wearing a tank or singlet to your appointment. Of course, if you are comfortable removing your shirt, that’s fine with us too!
Your Beauty Therapist will gently cleanse and prepare the area for waxing. Once your underarm area is ready, they will apply the wax of your choice and begin removing the hair.
Your skin may be slightly irritated, or sore after your wax so it is important to look after it well. After your wax you may apply a cooling gel or lotion to soothe the skin. We also recommending the following:
Avoid hot showers, bath, saunas or swimming for the first 24 hours
Avoid sun exposure
Do not engage in any strenuous activity or exercise which involves excessive sweating
Avoid deodorant or products for the first 24 hours that may clog your pores
After 24 hours you may resume your regular moisturising and daily routine. Use Nourish Body Moisturiser to keep skin and hairs hydrated, and prevent ingrowns from forming.
The regularity of your waxing appointments will depend on a lot of things. Generally speaking, you can book in for appointments every 3-8 weeks. This will depend on your hair growth, preference, and your own schedule for appointments. You will always need to wait a few weeks to allow hair to reach the correct length before waxing.
