Lash Lift Aftercare

Welcome to your lash lift pre and post care journey! Follow the instructions outlined on this page for long and lifted lashes, long after leaving the salon.

Lash Lift is quickly becoming one of our most popular services at Essential Beauty & Piercing and caring for your lifted lashes is important! We have been Australia’s beauty experts since 1990 and thoroughly understand the importance of caring for your body in the salon and out.

Lash lifts, curl, lift and create a lengthened look to your lashes. We love a lash lift when paired with a lash tint, for that extra pop and mascara-like effect! If you’re looking for all things lash lift preparation and lash lift aftercare, keep reading.

How to prepare for a lash lift

On the day of your appointment, it is important to ensure your lashes are ready for their lift:

  • It is best to arrive to your Lash Lift appointment wearing no eye makeup
  • Please do not curl your lashes with an eyelash curler on the day
  • Do not wear contact lenses to your appointment

Your first appointment

Our Beauty Therapists aim to deliver the best result possible at your first lash lift appointment. However, as we do not know how your lashes will respond to the lifting solutions, every first-time lash lift client has a maximum amount of time that the solution can be left on the lashes. This is to ensure your lashes stay strong and healthy.

At your next visit we can establish a more tailored curl and lift to get the best results possible. The feedback you give regarding the lift and curl e.g. more of a lift, more curl or less curl helps us tailor your treatment to better suit your style preference.

Understanding Rods vs. Shields

During your lash lift, your Beauty Therapist may use either a rod or a shield to create the lash lift, depending on your natural lashes and desired outcome:

  • Rods: These are cylindrical silicone tools that create a natural, soft curl, like a C. They’re ideal for clients seeking a subtle enhancement and are often used for longer lashes or those with downward growth.
  • Shields: These flatter silicone forms provide a more dramatic lift, resulting in a bold, eye-opening effect similar to an L curl. Shields are suitable for clients desiring a more pronounced lift, especially those with shorter or straighter lashes. The shield is preferable for people with hooded eyelids.

Your therapist will assess your lash length, eye shape, and personal preferences to choose the most suitable option, ensuring a customised and flattering result.

After your lash lift

After your Lash Lift appointment you should follow the following:

  • Avoid wearing eye makeup, including mascara for 24-48 hours
  • You should avoid getting your eyelashes wet for 24-48 hours as this will rinse off the solution and change your results
  • Refrain from being near any steam for the initial aftercare period as this may also affect your results
  • We also recommend that you avoid touching and rubbing your eyes for 24-48 hours post-appointment

For ongoing aftercare, we recommend that you avoid waterproof mascara and any makeup removers or cleansers that contain silicone, parabens, and lactic acids as these can interfere with your new lash shape.

  • Avoid waterproof mascara and makeup removers or cleansers that contain silicone, parabens, fruit acids or lactic acids, as these can interfere with your new lash shape and can cause broken and brittle lashes.
  • Use the Elleebana Elleeplex Advanced Aftercare for Lash Lift to maintain optimum lash lift results and lash health after your treatment. It eliminates frizzy hair and provides softness and shine to eyelashes and brows and effectively helps to protect the hair for longer lasting results. Enriched with proteins, amino acids and vitamin complex ingredients such as Keratin, Arginine, Hydrolised Collagen, Allantoin and Panthenol.

Monitoring Lash Growth & Maintenance

It’s important to monitor how your lashes respond over the coming weeks, as the longevity of a lash lift can vary depending on your natural lash growth cycle. Since we don’t know which phase of the growth cycle your lashes were in during your appointment, results can last anywhere from 4 to 8 weeks.

Hair Growth Cycle:

Anagen (growth phase): Follicle is actively growing a hair and will do so until the hair reaches the end of this phase.

Catagen (transition phase): The hair separates from the follicle but remains in place.

Telogen (rest phase): The hair stops growing and may or may not fall out, and a new hair is beginning to form in the follicle.

To keep your lashes looking their best, we recommend consistency with your appointments. Regular visits help maintain optimal lift and curl, ensuring your lashes always look fresh and defined.

For the best outcome, we also advise returning to the same salon and therapist. This allows your Beauty Therapist to build on the results of your first appointment, making adjustments such as extending the time the solution is left on—if needed—based on how your lashes responded initially.

By maintaining regular treatments and staying with the same professional, you’ll achieve long-lasting, beautiful results tailored specifically to you.

Tinting & more

Eyelash tinting makes your natural eyelashes darker, resulting in lashes looking fuller and thicker. Our most popular colour for a dramatic mascara effect is blue-black. This colour makes it look like you’re wearing mascara and makes your eyes pop!

If you have naturally light lashes, you’ll see a noticeable difference with our eyelash tint. Even with dark eyelashes, they’ll appear thicker and longer than usual. This is because lashes are usually lighter in colour towards the tips.

When to book in for your next appointment

This depends on how quickly your lashes grow but results typically last six to eight weeks. Your lashes will look their most dramatic during the first 4 weeks, but it is important to wait until your full lash cycle is over before having another lift. To keep your eyelashes looking amazing, we recommend getting another lash tint halfway through the life of your lash lift.

Professional eyelash tinting colours your natural eyelashes for up to 4 weeks.
